We set no cookies
This website does not set any cookies. There is no analytics, no advertising technology, no social media tracking and no third party script of any kind. Nothing about your visit is sent anywhere for measurement or profiling.
That is why you were not shown a consent banner. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, consent is required before non-essential storage is placed on your device. We place none, so there is nothing to consent to.
One thing we do store
If you use the light and dark theme switch in the header, your choice is saved in your browser local storage under the key aal-theme. This is not a cookie. It is never transmitted to us or to anyone else, it contains only the word light or dark, and it stays on the device you set it on.
This is exempt from the consent requirement because it does nothing except remember a preference you expressly asked us to remember. You can remove it at any time by clearing site data in your browser. The site works normally without it and will simply follow the light or dark setting of your operating system.
Everything is served from our own domain
Fonts, stylesheets and scripts are hosted by us rather than loaded from a third party content delivery network. This means no other company receives a record of your visit through this site.
One exception is worth naming. While this site is in its current form, the photography is loaded from a third party image service. Any request for an image reaches that service, which will see your IP address, as is the case for any image loaded from another domain. This will no longer apply once final photography is hosted on our own domain.
If this changes
If we ever add analytics or any other technology that stores information on your device, we will ask for your consent first through a proper consent mechanism, and we will update this page before doing so.
